About the event
Nutrition Toolbox - Best Practices, Tools & Resources - Providing Nutrition Care Excellence in LTC
This session will introduce the new and revised Best Practices around Clinical Nutrition & Food Service for Seniors Care, especially those living in Long-term care in Ontario.
Today, more than ever, there is a focus on dining, meal service and nutrition care in LTC. With the FLTCA, there are larger changes that Homes must comply with. There is a greater focus on nutriiton, ongoing staffing challenges and many new Dietitians and Food Service Staff. These resources and Best Practices will help front line staff have the tools they require to practice safely and effectively and help empower management to set up processes that support compliance and optimal nutrition care for our seniors. With these resources, Homes and Staff are equipped with practical, hands-on tools and resources to provide quality care for our seniors while ensuring they are meeting compliance requirements for the FLTCA.
In this session, delegates will learn about:
- The NEW and valuable Best Practices to support excellence in nutrition and food service for the seniors they serve
- The specific changes within the FLTCA that apply to nutriiton and food service
- The NEW practical tools & resources that will support their efforts as well as remain compliant to the FLTCA and regulations
- Learn more about advocacy efforts around Phase 2 recommendations for nutrition and food service, including staffing recommendations.
Lessons Learned Panel – Implementing the New FLTCA Dining & Menu Planning Regulations
This session will review the FLTCA regulation changes around Menu Planning and Dining Service in LTC. We will explore the best practices, tools and resources that are available by OSNAC. Provided will also be a panel of experts that can provide lessons learned from their implementation journey and answer key questions to many of the common questions being received from the sector.
Our Homes understand that there were changes to the regulations but do not really understand how to implement or even where to start. We hope that by providing a review of the regulation changes, including the best practices and resources, as well as panel of team members at various stages on the journey of implementation, we can best support others to begin making change. We want to answer some of the common questions we are receiving to help reduce the fear associated with the change, but also allow the attendees to ask their questions.
